Detroit Red Wings' goaltender Jimmy Howard left tonight's game against the Washington Capitals with a groin injury. at 1:53 of the first period, Capitals' forward Troy Brouwer tucked the puck past Howard to give the Capitals an early 1-0 lead. Howard tried to bring his leg around to block the opening, but was unable to do so and he hurt his groin in the process. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Petr Mrazek came in to replace the injured goaltender. Howard, 30, has a record of (16-7-7) with two shutouts in 32 games this season. Tonight, he was announced as one of the goaltenders who will take part in the 2015 NHL All Star Game in Columbus, Ohio. He is currently the Red Wings only representative.
