Niklas Kronwall Suspended

Detroit Red Wings' defenseman Niklas Kronwall was suspended for one game for charging. At 18:55 of the second period in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Kronwall hit Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov. Though no penalty was called on the play, the league declared that this was illegal and gave him a one-game ban. Kronwall, 34, registered nine goals, 35 assists, and 44 points in 80 games this season.

Mats Zuccarello Out Indefinitely

New York Rangers' forward Mats Zuccarello is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. He was injured in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Pittsburgh Penguins after he was hit by a shot from Rangers' defenseman Ryan McDonagh. Zuccarello, 27, registered 15 goals, 34 assists, and 49 points in 78 games this season.

Marcel Pronovost Dies

Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Marcel Pronovost has died. He was 84. Pronovost played in 1,206 career games for the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. He registered 88 goals, 257 assists, and 345 points in his career. He also won the Stanley Cup five times as a player and three times as a scout.

Penguins Send Down Four

The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned forward Scott Wilson and defensemen Taylor Chorney, Brian Dumoulin, and Derrick Pouliot to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Wilson, 23, did not register any goals, assists, or points in one game this season. Chorney, 27, also did not register any goals, assists, or points in seven games this season. Dumoulin, 23, registered one goal, no assists, and one point in eight games this season. Pouliot, 21, registered two goals, five assists, and seven points in 34 games this season.

Nathan Beaulieu Out

Montreal Canadiens' defenseman Nathan Beaulieu will miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals due to an upper-body injury. He sustained the injury after he was hit twice by Ottawa Senators' defenseman Erik Karlsson in Game 3. Beaulieu, 22, registered one goal, eight assists, and nine points in 64 games this season.

Canucks Call Up Sven Baertschi

The Vancouver Canucks called up forward Sven Baertschi from Utica of the American Hockey League. Baertschi, 22, registered two goals, four assists, and six points in 18 games this season with the Calgary Flames and the Canucks.

Mike Fisher Misses Game

Nashville Predators' forward Mike Fisher missed today's game against the Chicago Blackhawks with a lower-body injury. He left Game 1 with a lower-body injury and he missed Game 2. Fisher, 34, registered 19 goals, 20 assists, and 39 points in 59 games this season.

Shea Weber Out Two Games

Nashville Predators' defenseman Shea Weber will miss Games 3 and 4 against the Chicago Blackhawks due to a leg injury. He was injured after he was hit by Blackhawks' forward Brandon Saad in the second period of the Predators' 6-2 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Weber, 29, registered 15 goals, 30 assists, and 45 points in 78 games this season.

Justin Abdelkader to Miss Game

The Detroit Red Wings announced that forward Justin Abdelkader will miss Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Tampa Bay Lightning due to a hand injury. Abdelkader, 28, registered 23 goals, 21 assists, and 44 points in 71 games this season.

Mark Stone Injured, Availability Unknown

Ottawa Senators' forward Mark Stone sustained a microfracture and ligament damage to his right wrist during last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens. It has not been confirmed if he will play in Game 2 or any of the remaining games in the best-of-seven series. Stone, 22, registered 26 goals, 38 assists, and 64 points in 80 games this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins called up defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Scott Harrington from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Dumoulin, 23, registered one goal, no assists, and one point in eight games this season. Harrington, 22, did not register any goals, assists, or points in 10 games this season.

Sabres Fire Ted Nolan

The Buffalo Sabres fired head coach Ted Nolan. Nolan was hired on November 13, 2013 after Ron Rolston was fired. Nolan previously coached the Sabres from 1995 to 1997. In his second tenure as the Sabres' head coach, he led the Sabres to a record of (40-87-17). In addition to Nolan, assistant coach Danny Flynn was fired and general manager Tim Murray announced that the contracts of assistant coaches Bryan Trottier and Tom Coolen will not be renewed.

Maple Leafs Fire Horachek, Nonis

The Toronto Maple Leafs relieved interim head coach Peter Horachek and general manager Dave Nonis of their duties. Horachek took over after head coach Randy Carlyle was fired on January 7. Horachek led the Maple Leafs to a record of (9-28-5) in 42 games. Nonis was hired as the general manager on January 9, 2013. During his time as the general manager, the Maple Leafs had a record of (94-97-21) with a trip to the playoffs in 2013. In addition to Horachek and Nonis, assistant coaches Steve Spott and Chris Dennis, goaltending coach Rick St. Croix, director of pro scouting Steve Kasper, and director of player development Jim Hughes were fired.

The Florida Panthers re-signed forward Jaromir Jagr to a one-year contract. Jagr, 43, registered 17 goals, 30 assists, and 47 points in 77 games with the New Jersey Devils and the Panthers this season.

The Vancouver Canucks signed forward Derek Dorsett to a four-year extension and defenseman Luca Sbisa to a three-year extension. Dorsett, 28, has seven goals, 18 assists, and 25 points in 77 games this season. Sbisa, 25, has three goals, eight assists, and 11 points in 74 games this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs called up forward Colton Orr from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Orr, 33, has played in 476 career games for the Bruins, Rangers, and Maple Leafs. He has 12 goals, 12 assists, and 24 points in his NHL career.

Flames Call Up Brad Thiessen

The Calgary Flames called up goaltender Brad Thiessen from Adirondack of the American Hockey League. Thiessen, 29, made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011-12 season. In five games, he compiled a record of (3-1-0).

Winnipeg Jets' defenseman Dustin Byfuglien was suspended for four games after he cross-checked New York Rangers' forward J.T. Miller. The incident occurred at 17:20 of the second period in Tuesday's game between the Rangers and Jets. He will lose $111,827.96 total for the four games that he will miss. Byfuglien, 30, has 18 goals, 27 assists, and 45 points in 68 games this season.
