Crosby Returns in Penguins' 1-0 Win Against Colorado
Early in the week, it was announced that there was a chance that Sidney Crosby could return for tonight's game against the Colorado Avalanche. He took part in the morning skate this morning and was a game-time decision. Crosby took the ice for warm ups and it was determined that he would be back. Marc-Andre Fleury got the start for the Penguins and Calvin Pickard got the start for the Avalanche. In the first period, there were a total of three penalties and fifteen total shots, but the game was scoreless after one period of play. In the second period, the Penguins went on the power play at 6:07 when Dennis Everberg was called for a two-minute boarding penalty. The Penguins were unable to score on the power play. At 12:37, there was a fight between Cody McLeod and Bobby Farnham. After one minor penalty, one fight, and 31 combined shots on goal, the game remained scoreless through two periods of play. The third period was clean, as neither team was penalized. Even though the Penguins had a 19-7 shot advantage in the third period, the game was scoreless through regulation and would need overtime. Blake Comeau scored the lone goal of the game at 2:24 of overtime to give the Penguins a 1-0 win.
